Have you ever spent thousands of dollars on a conference and then you got home and realized? I didn't land one customer from that.
I know I have and thats why I had to find a better way to network without spending money and without traveling. I’ve found that LinkedIn is an amazing way to meet people online. Whether its other founders, investors, potential clients, strategic partners, or potential hires.
You can use this too and while I share this with you, think about the best strategy for you to use this for your own business.
Step 1: Decide on who you want to network with? Is this to validate a new business idea? Is this to land new potential clients? Is this to potentially recruit new employees?
Step 2: Go to LinkedIn Sales Navigator and create a targeted list for each vertical, industry, or market segment you want to reach out to. This could be for example Insurance companies. Banks, Plumbing companies. It doesn’t matter what you think could be a good client for your business.
Step 3: In the LinkedIn search bar plug in the filters of your ideal customer profile or plug in the job title, industry, company size, or company names you want to connect with.
Step 4: Add each prospect your targeted list
Step 5: Come up with a personalized note to connect with them. A personalized note is a huge hack to increase your connection rate on LinkedIn because it’s showing that you’ve done your research on them and makes you look human
Step 6: Click on each profile to view them and send them the personalized note. I’d do 100 of these per day so you can build 30-40 new connections per day. A good example of a personalized not could be first name, very impressed with your background in the XYZ industry. I’m exploring a new concept in the XYZ space and would love to get your feedback. Would love to connect and chat. Or it could be. Very impressed with your background in the XYZ industry. I’m looking to hire a let’s call it VP of Sales. I’m interested in learning more about your background. Would love to connect and chat.
Step 7: Now after they become a connection you can send a follow message saying. Would love to chat about what does your availability looks like next week?
And there you go now you’re booking meetings to fill up your calendar that can become new customers, partners, or employees for you. This strategy could be worth millions of dollars to you.
